The aesthetics of country music have morphed over the years from the casual cool of Johnny Cash and beauty pageant charm of Patsy Cline to…something else. With the risk of sounding like an old grump, the new country look of huge pristine hats and blinding sequins is far less appealing than the days of yesteryear. This past weekend’s annual Country Music Awards brought out the stars in their glitz and glam and while some soared on the red carpet, others sunk with an audible thud.
