Just over three months after opening their buzzy Argentine grill, chef-owners Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñonez will be expanding their restaurant space. The new bar and waiting area in the adjoining garage space next door to Ox will be called Whey Bar (a play on Ox’s original incarnation as a creamery), with an expanded drink menu and small bar snacks. Projected opening is August 14th.
The garage space will be roughly 500 square feet with a six-seat bar, a standing bar stacked with Ox’s wood arsenal, an 8 seat communal table, and ample seating on the outdoor patio for warm weather dining. The expanded bar menu will feature a list of Ox favorites like Devil in a New Dress (tequila, red pepper, Combier orange, mescal) and Things Done Changed (Pisco, smoked lemon, jalapeno, egg white), a daily punch, and a 10-liter oak barrel of Fernet on tap.
Per the Dentons: “With the way business has been, we looked to restaurant bars like Kask and Whiskey Soda Lounge as models for setting up a waiting area. Sometimes people just want to come for a drink and don’t want to cross MLK to get it.”
