We think the nascent grassroots campaign to make this design the new state flag of Oregon deserves serious consideration. 


Speaking of makeovers, when artist/planner Neil Freeman redrew the US map to depict 50 states with equal population, he combined Oregon, northern cal, and Hawaii to create “Shasta” (and new tourism-tax possibilities).



Facing off in the “creative nonfiction” category, machisma-memoir best sellers Cheryl Strayed and Storm Large should settle this month’s Oregon Book Award in a best-two-out-of-three arm wrestling match.


As the Portland-filmed series Grimm returns for a spring season, its characters battle to survive a forbidding graveyard, a.k.a. NBC’s Nielsen ratings.



We were totally going to read Portland Congressman Earl Blumenauer’s new report on his proposed federal marijuana decriminalization bill and think some stuff about it, but we sort of got sidetracked.
