Here in Portland, you don't have to leave the city for an idyllic summer farm-to-fork meal surrounded by flowers.
Local non-profit Growing Gardens brings the quintessential farm dinner a bit closer to home with their annual Chef in My Garden dinner series, featuring top Portland chefs, Oregon wineries, and the backdrop of Portland's most inspirational gardens.
Tickets are available now for these one-of-a-kind meals and garden design tours. Proceeds benefit Growing Gardens' efforts to end local hunger through home-scale organic gardens built by volunteers for low-income families in Oregon.

- July 7: Jason French of Ned Ludd and Elk Cove Vineyards, in the historic gardens of Judy Dauble (developed in the 1920s overlooking the Willamette River against the backdrop of her lovely home, originally built for the president of Portland Electric Power).
- July 14: Ken Norris of Riffle NW and Adelsheim Vineyard, in the gardens of Colleen Cain & Phil Miller. These multi-level mature gardens range from formal to country with edible components and terraces, containers, seating and wide gravel pathways on all of the three levels.

- July 21: John Taboada of Luce and Navarre, in the gardens of Becky & Michael DeCesaro. Their garden has evolved from a Northwest forest of rhododendrons and giant sequoias to one that includes a hidden edible garden and expressions of color throughout the year, complete with an outdoor fireplace and a resident owl.
- July 28: Jake Martin of Genoa with Hawks View Cellars, in the gardens of Bettsy & Wally Preble. This 10-acre working urban farm is home to horses, alpacas, chickens, and a lake surrounding their beautiful contemporary-style home
- August 4: Benjamin Bettinger of Imperial with Purple Hands Wine, in the gardens of Isaac Brock & Lisa Molinaro. Two star musicians will open their urban garden to diners, crowned by hemlock, cedar and fir trees, with a stunning selection of native flora and a stone raised vegetable garden bed.
- August 11: Michael Stanton of Heathman Restaurant & Bar in the gardens of Meredith & DA Hilderbrand, an impressive collection of local and international sculptures, fun topiary, and winding paths through evergreens and gorgeous shade gardens.
- August 18: Kasey Mills of Toro Bravo with Apolloni Vineyards, in the gardens of Carolyn & Morry Arntson. Look for deer, coyote, blue heron, and ducks as you stroll around the pond and enjoy the garden the Arntsons have created and nurtured over the past dozen years.
- August 25: Lissa Kane of Lucca, in the gardens of Lori & Richard Vollmer. Garden Fever nursery owners Lori and Richard Vollmer are celebrating the nursery's 10th year in business, and the Vollmer's two-acre, country garden in nearby Battle Ground, Washington beautifully showcases their passion for their work. Their Edible Garden includes a 40 x 60 foot vegetable patch and an heirloom squash plot.
$150 Tickets are available for each dinner on the Growing Gardens website. The all-inclusive dinners will begin at 4 pm, allowing plenty of time for diners to explore the grounds of the host gardens and farms.
