Pinot 365 Wine Tasting

8th-Annual Chowder Challenge at Lompoc Brewing
What: Will the Ice Axe Grill take home another championship or will a new restaurant unseat the chowder champion this year? Witness a dozen restaurants go head to head for this year’s Chowder Cup at Lompoc’s Fifth Quandrant. Sample contenders’ New England–style clam chowders, enjoy live music from Leslie Lou and the Lowburners, and support the Portland’s Community Transitional School at this rambunctious, family-friendly benefit.

Traditional Kaiseki Dinner Pop Up
What: Jane Hashimawari (of Japanese curry and soul food stand, Ippai), and William Harper (of Biwa and Castagna) will join forces to serve up a 10 course traditional Japanese Kaiseki dinner with drink pairings at PaaDee’s next door pop up kitchen. Kaiseki describes traditional Japanese haute cuisine consisting of a sequence of small, seasonal and artfully plated dishes with a seafood focus, so ready your chopsticks for an evening of meticulously prepared and gorgeously plated dishes.

Pages to Plate: Whole Grain Mornings with Megan Gordon
What: Upgrade your granola cred at this book signing and demonstration with Megan Gordon. In addition to her recently published book, Whole Grain Mornings, Gordon has been churning out small batch granola with her Seattle based Marge Granola since 2010. Watch the pro whip up some crunchy goodness and take some home for yourself at this sweet signing and demonstration.

Foster’s Craft Cooking: Grand Bo Ssam
What: Bo Ssam is Korean for “wrapped” and the dishes at this decadent, take-no-prisoners communal feast all feature this signature preparation style. Enjoy slow roasted pork shoulder, kimchi, and rice tucked into leafy lettuce pouches. The dinner starts off with a cocktail and oysters in a half shell and then moves on to the family style Bo Ssam spread, followed by chocolates, citrus fruit, and plenty of beer. Loosen your tie and delight in this tactile, hands on, and boozy dinner prepared by Portland Farmer’s Market director Jaret Foster.

Mardi Gras at Acadia
What: Chef Adam Higgins is doing his part to bring the decadent culinary binge fest that is Fat Tuesday to Portland, offering a Mardi Gras tasting menu in addition to Acadia’s New Orleans’s inspired offerings. This over the top, four course menu includes a crawfish remoulade, Cajun red bean cassoulet with house made Andouille sausage, not to mention a King’s Cake with cream cheese icing and a traditional plastic baby hidden inside for one lucky diner. Between feasting, sharing beads, vintage masks, and imbibing in a few cocktails, you’ll be primed to enter Lent in true New Orleans style at Acadia.
