The season of the wine harvest is upon us, and while a treck to the lush vines of wine country sounds pretty nice right now, you don't have to leave the city to get a taste of the crush.

Get a firsthand look at the harvest with tours, tastings, and parties hosted by some of Portland's urban wineries:

SE Wine Collective
2425 SE 35th Pl
The SE Wine Collective is hosting weekly Taste of Harvest happy hours, where you’ll get to taste the grapes and the fermenting wines, and even contribute to the winemaking process by punching down grapes. The September 26 happy hour marks the one year anniversary of the collective, which they will celebrate with complimentary pizzas from Cibo, as well as appetizers and (of course) wine. Happy hours weekly through October 18. For more information about this event call 503-887-8755.

Clay Pigeon Winery
815 SE Oak St
Wednesday is Wine Wednesday at Clay Pigeon Winery. To kick off the harvest season, they are offering free winery tours where you will learn about (and taste) different stages of the winemaking process. Every Wednesday from September 25th until October 16th, 6:30 pm. For more information about this event call 503-342-6500.

Hip Chicks Do Wine
4510 SE 23rd Ave
Check out Squishfest, presented by Hip Chicks Do Wine, if you want a harvest experience that is more hands-on—or rather, feet-on. The event will feature wine and juice tastings, food, live music, and (if the grapes are ready in time) an old-fashioned grape stomping. October 5, 3-8 pm, $15 admission. For more information about this event call 503-234-3790.

Boedecker Cellars
2621 NW 30th Ave
Join Boedecker Cellars for their Tuesday Tastings and Harvest Tours, where you’ll get a tour of the cellar and a taste of some grapes, juice, and wine. Then you get to sit back and relax with a glass of wine and a bowl of soup while watching the winemakers in action. Sure beats sitting on the couch watching The Real Housewives. October 8, 15, 22 and 29, 6-7:30 pm, $45. For more information about this event call 503-224-5778.

Seven Bridges Winery
2303 N Harding Ave
Seven Bridges Winery will be celebrating its five year anniversary with a happy hour showcasing the release of their 2010 wines. Light appetizers and wine by the glass will be available. October 11, 5-8 pm. For more information about this event call 503-203-2583.
