SW 12th: A new European-style cafe/marketplace is opening in the West End. Ed and Cheryl Casey will debut Cheryl's on 12th on Thursday, October 25th, offering coffee, pastries from former Papa Haydn chef Kristina Montaine, to-go and dine-in dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, as well as local and imported gourmet cheeses, meats, oils, chocolates, beer, wine, and more. With floor-to-ceiling windows, Carrara tiled floors, whisk lights, and wood details reclaimed from a former speakeasy in the basement, the space mixes modern elements of the Downtown district with old school charm. NW 14th: Eater PDX reports that market-driven Mexican eatery Verde Cocina will open a second location in the space recently home to Kin (which shuttered earlier this month).
