As reported in November on Eat Beat, Sarah Hart's jewel box of a shop Alma Chocolate has expanded to include a new production space on Northeast 6th that will host a dinner series of Portland chefs, winemakers, and artisans.
The kick-off of Alma's dinner series will take place on Thursday, January 24th featuring Ned Ludd chef Jason French, urban winery Helioterra, cheese from Corsican Cellars, and, naturally, sweet concoctions from Alma Chocolate.
For $85 a seat, twenty five guests will gather around the chocolate-centric dinner table at the American Brush Building (116 NE Sixth Avenue) to share cheese plates and bon bons, winter veggie soup swirled with brilliant green parsley oil and a brioche cocoa crouton, arugula salad with cocoa nibs, roasted quail with blood orange and bitter chocolate, and a trio of Alma's housemade ice cream (meyer lemon, bittersweet chocolate with nibs, and tarragon custard). 'Tis the season for supper clubs, as the announcement of Alma's dinner series arrived on our desks mere hours after the launch of the SE Wine Collective Supper Club series lineup on Eat Beat. More than any other food and wine event, these collaborative dinners featuring a mash-up of chefs, artisans, and shared spaces symbolize the collective spirit of our town...and the addition of chocolate can only make them sweeter.
