The wares on display at these quirky curated festivals are a snapshot of established and up-and-coming local companies and artists—so you’re sure to check of your list, and have fun doing it.
After all, who wants another anonymous gift set sitting under the tree when you can pick up that perfect, Yeti-inspired tea cozy?
•Apolloni Vineyards Holiday Market

Want to get out of town and do a little shopping over the Thanksgiving weekend with a wine glass in hand? Check out the Apolloni Vineyards Holiday Market. From November 29th to December 1st, head to the Apolloni tasting room for your holiday gift hunting and check out a wide selection of gourmet food gifts—like Fraga Farms Cheese, Albina City Nuts, and Haiku Organics skincare—while you sample Apolloni red and white wine flights.

Get your holiday shopping off to a lively start with the Portland Bazaar’s swanky night fair, complete with music and spirits to set the tone for a laid back shopping experience or come with the masses to the weekend's main event, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am–4 pm. High design goods like Ampersand Gallery, Poler, and Anna Mara flowers will be interspersed with local food vendors (like Bake Shop and Three Little Figs) and restaurants like Bunk, Chop, and Pine State Biscuits.
• Crafty Wonderland’s Super Colossal Holiday Sale

If your tastes tend towards the DIY, you won’t want to miss Crafty Wonderland’s Super Colossal Holiday Sale. One of Portland’s largest holiday fairs, they have expanded to include over 250 vendors housed under the florescent canopy of the Oregon Convention Center. In addition to browsing handmade or hand–altered jewelry, clothing, accessories, and art, try your hand at some DIY Christmas crafting with demonstrations hosted by COLLAGE or get your gifts wrapped by local non-profit SCRAP. Olympia based artist Nikki McClure will be at the LAND booth on Sunday from 12 – 2 pm, signing her gorgeous paper cut illustrated books and calendars.
If you can’t make it to the festival, check out their Colossal Spring Sale in May or stop by their year round, adorably curated year–round, permanent shop at 808 SW 10th Ave across from the Central Library.
• To find that perfect present for your favorite cat (or cat enthusiast) without leaving the comforts of your home, check out the brainchild of designers and cat food maker, Fancy Feast, at Feastivities.com. It’s an online hub for unique, holiday cat–themed gifts, and be sure to check out Portland designer Christy Nyboer’s (ALittleLark) tote bag. Display your cat lady pride, sporting this bag with an iridescent white, glitter cat face emblazoned on the side of black canvas.
• ADX’s Gifted: A Portland Made Marketplace

Stick to Portland-only artists this year at ADX’s holiday fair, Gifted. This workspace slash community center is what your shop class in high school could only dream of becoming—and these bandsaw-wielding whiz kids are hosting a two day extravaganza featuring local accessories, clothing, furniture, baked goods, distilled spirits, and more. Shop with a cocktail in hand at their Friday night market featuring music and holiday snacks or check out the festival in the light of day Saturday from 12 – 6 pm. ADX even has a photo booth and clubhouse to retreat from the shopping mayhem and rest tired feet until heading back into the wintry world.

Choose from two fairs hosted by Handmade NW where shoppers can support local, handmade artists as well as Oregon non–profits. Handmade NW is hosting an informal holiday fair November 19 – 20 at OHSU with 10% of sales donated to the Heart Research Center. If you would rather shop in a swanky ballroom at the Leftbank Annex, check out their formal holiday fair Sunday, December 8th with over 100 vendors retailing their unique, handcrafted goods.
