Getting from Point A to Point B is about to get a lot more delicious.
Portland International Airport is preparing to open a host of new restaurants and shops by early next year as part of its effort to refresh its concessions area.
Weary travelers will soon be able to enjoy locally-sourced Banh Mi sandwiches, Pho, and grill noodle bowls at Banbuza Vietnam Kitchen or vegan and gluten-free wraps and salads at Café Yumm!
Also joining the lineup is Oregon’s coastal classic, Mo’s Seafood & Chowder, which will be serving up bowls of its famous clam chowder and seafood baskets, along with Henry's Tavern and Adam Sappington's Country Cat (fried chicken? Yes please!).
Satiated sightseers can also peruse PDX’s new shops, which will include UK-based sterling silver jewelry store Metalsmiths Sterling and CC McKenzie, a women’s apparel boutique native to Portland.
“We searched far and wide to bring these great options to our travelers, speaking to some 250 individuals interesting in operating at PDX” says Chris Czarnecki, Port general manager of aviation business and properties. “We welcome these exciting new shops to our airport family.”
The Port of Portland signed 10-year leases for 11 new businesses on Wednesday, as leases belonging to at least 45 of the approximately 60 shops and restaurants are set to expire by 2017, Czarnecki says.
