FOR THE NOSE

Yesterday Haze by Imaginary Authors, $85

Prestigious worldwide perfume guide Basenotes doled out its reader awards this year to megabrands like Dior and Valentino. But Portland’s own unisex line, Imaginary Authors, managed to snag “Best New House” with its scents full of unexpected ingredients, like Haze’s combo of fig and “orchard dust.”

FOR THE LIPS

Velvet Lipstick by Alima Pure, $26

Over the past 11 years, Alima Pure founder Kate O’Brien has grown her small kingdom from a collection of mineral foundations to natural cosmetics for eyes, cheeks, and now lips. Each of the six all-natural colors comes in refillable, recyclable aluminum tubes that boast a subtly delicious vanilla scent.

FOR THE FACE

Saké Skin Detox Tonic by Kensington Apothecary, $28

Creator Claudia Carey Batz spent years researching traditional recipes from the Victorian and Renaissance eras to create modern spins on classic cleansers and serums. This Sake Detox Tonic battles those dark under-eye circles with an infusion of mimosa bark and olive leaf extracts.

FOR THE BODY

Cedar & Rose Body Oil by Olo, $25

Olo expanded its domain last year with a flagship store (cheekily titled Milk Milk Lemonade) and a new line of soaps, incense, and oils. Made with a mix of apricot kernel, jojoba, and rosehip oils, the Cedar & Rose makes your skin supple and smooth, without the greasy aftereffects of most body oils.

FOR THE HANDS

Hildegard’s Healing Balm by Wolf’s Apothecary, $10

Wolf’s creator Jewelie Randall begins each batch of balm by harvesting wild cottonwood buds (known for their healing properties), then infusing them into a mix of wax and oils. The resulting balm, she says, is perfect for “cooks, comrades, gardeners, fixers, and heroes.”

FOR THE FELLAS

Hwy 101 Beard Oil by Okamura Farmacopia, $23

This entire line is sulfate-, paraben-, and cruelty-free, geared toward those with sensitive skin. In addition to the unisex line of tonics and serums, mixologist Sherry Okamura offers a line of beard oils with antibacterial ingredients for shaving, moisturizing, and just plain smelling good.
