Lardo Features Under-the-Radar Chefs in their “Off the Cart Series”
To honor its humble beginnings, Lardo is handing over the reigns to its Hawthorne location through October as part of their “Off the Cart” series, which gives rising chefs a chance to strut their stuff for a day. Up next is Jason Hegedus, sous chef at Ava Genes, who will take the helm next Wednesday the 30th. Check out Lardo’s Facebook page for future chef takeovers.

Local Chefs Come Together for St. Jude’s Autumn Harvest Dinner
Top Chef star, Gregory Gourdet, will be teaming up with local chefs like Coquine’s Katy Millard and Han Ly Hwang of Kim Jong Grillin’ at Departure for a fundraising dinner to combat childhood cancer. Expect an eight-course, globetrotting menu along with booze, live entertainment, and an auction.

Fall Brews and Views at Skamania Lodge
Washington’s Skamania Lodge is hosting its annual Celebration of Beer Festival with the likes of Double Mountain and Mt. Tabor Brewing. With all the fall beer festivals to choose from, this one has the advantage of taking place amongst Skamania’s stunning wooded grounds along the Gorge. Local wine, cider, and spirits will also be on-site along with food and live music.

HUB Celebrates Handmade Bikes and Beers
HUB is hosting what might be the most Portland event ever: the Handmade Bike and Beer Festival. The fest features local bike builders and vendors, beer and cider from HUB and other local brewers like The Commons and Pfriem, as well as a BMX stunt crew and a bike throwing competition.

Spanish Cider Dinner at Bar Vivant
Perfect for people who like cider, massive steaks, and have excellent hand-eye coordination, this San Sebastian tradition features Spanish and local ciders poured at high speed. Drinkers must catch (txotx) the stream of cider in their glass or stay thirsty. To give you an idea, check out the proper txotx techniques here.

Cascade Brewing Barrel House Celebrates Five Years
The local kings of sour ale are celebrating their fifth birthday by bringing back 10 vintage beers including 2009 favorites Noyaux and Sang Royale. The celebrations will last five days, with two different barrels opened each day (call ahead to find out which beers are featured). A special barrel tapping of Cherry Bourbon Double Red (Cascade’s first) will happen Friday at 6pm.

Bar Crawl Features Brews Inspired by Forest Park Trails
In collaboration with the Forest Conservancy, local brewers (like Base Camp, Upright, Laurelwood and more) have crafted beers inspired by Forest Park. Now you can take a walk of your own via a pub-crawl featuring their arboreal creations, proceeds from which go toward restoring Portland’s favorite green space.
When: Saturday, October 10th at noon
Where: Tour starts at Belmont Station (4500 SE Stark Blvd) and ends at Bazi Bierbrasserie (1522 SE 32nd Ave).
Over 30 cideries, food trucks, and musicians come together to celebrate the Northwest's fermented apple bounty, and to support the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Nicky USA’s 15th Annual Wild About Game Competition
We love any opportunity to prove we’re better than Seattle, and Nicky USA’s Wild About Game competition is no exception. Four Rose City representatives (Johanna Ware of Smallwares, Carlo Lamagna of Clyde Common, Andrew Mace of Le Pigeon, and Doug Adams of Imperial) will face off against Seattle’s best in a wild game-themed battle to the death. You can watch the inevitable Portland domination while sampling local food, beer, and wine.
