Dig in (literally) to this interactive five-course dinner based on the concept of “eating dirt.” Presented by artist Betsy Hinze and Authentique Wine Cellars, this charitable event takes place underneath sculptural light installations illuminating courses such as edible soil flavored with foraged nuts and mushrooms and roasted root vegetables baked in clay. You’ll also explore the role dirt plays in the terroir of wines as you taste pairings with each course. The dinner benefits the Portland YouthGrow Program.

10th Annual Chowder Challenge
If your inner New Englander is fighting to get out, put on a blindfold for this chowder challenge from Lompoc Brewing benefitting the Community Transitional School. The competition sees a dozen regional restaurants and pubs—5th Quadrant, Burnside Brewing, Cascade Brewing Barrel House, Farm House Café, and Produce Row to name a few—compete for the coveted Chowder Cup and a cash prize. Paying patrons will slurp blindly from a tray featuring two-ounce samples of New England-style clam chowders from each participating restaurant, voting for their favorite to name the People’s Choice Winner. Chowder-down, spectate, or just enjoy the live music, beer garden, and pub food.

While the location for this super secret supper has yet to be revealed, you can bet on bringing a warm coat and an appetite. With the given theme of “Fire + Ice,” the dinner is meant to evoke the elements of the Pacific Northwest, showcasing local cuisine in a five-course menu prepared over a blazing open fire by Foster's Craft Cooking and the Secret Supper Team in some yet-to-be-disclosed Nordic locale.

6th Annual Toast
Oregon’s original artisan spirits tasting event returns, showcasing over 40 local distillers, 120 spirits from across the Northwest, and eats from five of Portland’s top chefs.
