Kurt and Rob Widmer were in Portland before it was Beervana. Their path to Oregon's beer hall of fame began on May 15, 1986, when the brothers dropped off the first keg of their cloudy, unfiltered wheat beer at the Dublin Pub, a small Southeast Portland bar that at the time served as Widmer Brothers Brewing's entire distribution network. We tracked down Rob, and coaxed Kurt out of retirement, to tell us about their origins, their future, and why you’re pronouncing “Hefe” all wrong.
