An organization serving tens of thousands of immigrants and refugees every year. The largest community center of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and a “beacon of hope” for our city’s LGBTQ community. A man who created an organization to help at-risk children like he once was himself. Our very own Justice League for creepy crawlies. These are just a few of the awe-inspiring winners of Portland Monthly’s annual Light a Fire Awards. And we'll honor them all at our gala event on November 2.
Our 14th annual Light a Fire Awards dinner and celebration returns to the Portland Art Museum this year, doubling down on the theme of art in an evening that promises celebration, entertainment, and an award ceremony shining a spotlight on the individuals and organizations dedicated to improving our communities. With legendary local drag queen Poison Waters as our evening’s emcee, get ready to cheer, laugh, and sniffle a little as we introduce you to some of our city’s unsung heroes.
Please join us as we celebrate the nonprofits, organizations, and volunteers heeding the call to action. (And read up on all their good work before you meet them in person.) Get your tickets here. We promise it will make you feel (at least!) 20 percent better about the world.
