There are tons of romantic spots to book your V-Day reservation (see our 18 favorite sultry picks right here). But if you want to go all-out—we’re talking foie gras, truffles, caviar, Latin music, and secret jewelry—here are your best bets. 

Teutonic Wine Company

The Alsatian vintners host a soirée with Francophile food cart The Fine Goose: butterfly prawns with pesto, puff pastry stuffed with oyster mushrooms, duck confit, and tarte tatin. Meanwhile, you’ll be serenaded by the likes of Latin-Cuban-Brazilian fusion performers Jessie Marquez and Clay Giberson. Germanic wines, Frenchie food, and Latin tunes? Yes, please.

Natty by Nature at Tournant

Natural wine baron Dana Frank, who launched (and promptly departed) one of the city’s most exciting new wine bars, Dame, back in 2016, is starting a pop-up. Natty by Nature, an ode to both natural wine and the golden era of hip-hop, kicks off on V-Day. Think orange wines from Central Europe, light-bodied reds from Northern Italy, and damn good Champagne. It’ll be poured to the best of '80s and '90s hip-hop, and served with copious amounts of oysters, cured meat, and an enormous pan of smoky clam and chorizo fideos.

We’ve been watching the neighborhood Italian joint closely ever since former Taylor Railworks chef Erik Van Kley jumped aboard. For V-Day, the meal starts with … crayons? Your tabletop work of art will be fueled by cardamom-orange milkshakes served with two straws. Once that’s out of the way, expect foie gras with French toast, Candy Cap mushroom caramel, and tagliatelle with braised pork.

Le Pigeon

Portland’s most celebrated restaurant is a Valentine’s Day standby. One look at the menu, and you’ll know why we’d rather eat here than pretty much anywhere else. Among other things: hamachi with foie gras, orange, and black truffle; bone marrow with pancakes and caviar; scallop and prawn cabbage “lasagna” with poached lobster, seafood butter and Meyer lemon; a banana split for two. It’s like every culinary vice and extravagance rolled into a five-course dinner.

Pix Patisserie

This place is all about chocolate and champagne, so we don’t have to tell you it’ll be a hit. Two things to watch out for on the 14th: a Tea for Two tea service, starring 20 sweet and savory bites, two pots of tea, and two glasses of sparkling wine. Also, one of Pix’s chocolate boxes will hide a pair of 14 karat, white gold stud earrings—so shop early and chew carefully!
