For those with less-than-perfect vision, getting corrective lenses is life changing. Rustling leaves go from blurry to sharp, trees pop on the mountainside and a more beautiful world comes into focus. As it is for many, receiving glasses and contact lenses was a poignant moment during Mila Ioussifova’s childhood. “I still remember I was in tears from happiness and wanted to hug my optometrist in gratitude,” she says.

Born and raised in Azerbaijan, the longtime Pacific Northwest resident is now able to help her own patients experience similar revelations at her practice South Waterfront Eye Care.

There, she offers a full range of optometry services, but her specialty is combating dry eye disease. “Although millions of people struggle, it is still under-diagnosed and under-treated by most doctors,” she explains. “My philosophy is to treat the root cause of dry eye disease, not just put a temporary Band-Aid on symptoms.” To do so, Ioussifova offers cutting-edge treatments, including Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, Lipiflow Thermal Pulsation, True Tear Neurostimulation and more.

South Waterfront Eye Care is family run and dedicated to providing relief in a comfortable setting. “We often hear our patients tell us they feel like they are coming to see a friend or family member,” says Ioussifova. ““I know I am making a difference in people’s lives when my patients hug me - it’s why I became an optometrist.”
