The Argyle story is a quintessential Oregon tale, complete with the promise of staking claim to new spaces, taking risks, and embracing opportunities. It is also a story of a deep and meaningful relationship with the land, and with the wine lovers who have long championed the region’s beautiful and distinctive wines.
In 1987, Argyle was founded by pioneering Oregon vintner Rollin Soles, with a belief that the cool climate of Oregon’s Willamette Valley was ideal for producing sparkling wines that could stand alongside the great wines of Champagne.
SPARKLING WINE IS ONLY THE BEGINNING
While sparkling wine was Argyle’s first claim to fame, in the three decades since its founding it has also earned acclaim for its cool-climate chardonnays and its vibrant and alluring pinot noirs. In fact, Argyle is the only American winery to have earned a place on Wine Spectator’s annual “Top 100” list of the world’s greatest wines in three categories: red, white, and sparkling.
In addition to bringing Oregon wine to a global audience, Argyle has also long helped to set the benchmark for wine country hospitality. For those wishing to immerse themselves in a truly unforgettable Oregon wine-tasting experience, a visit to the Argyle Tasting House is a must!
Located just 28 miles west of Portland, in downtown Dundee, the Tasting House honors Argyle’s unique history and the agricultural roots of the surrounding community. Offering an array of wine-focused educational, experiential, and philanthropic events throughout the year, it is a vibrant hub within the Oregon wine community.
