We clinked a few glasses in every bar-endowed Portland neighborhood (all 74 of them—the other 21 hoods are tragically barless) in search of the quintessential local watering holes, the real-life Cheers bars that keep this city running. Wherever you are in this city, there’s a well-worn bar stool waiting just a few blocks away, in a friendly tavern with a vibe of its own.
