Where does Al Gore get his personal stationery? At Oblation, quite arguably our city’s premier papermaker and printer, started by Ron and Jennifer Rich in 1989. A combination stationer and print shop, Oblation produces sumptuous, 100 percent cotton papers with straight or ragged deckle edges—perfect for composing firebrand environmental manifestos or gracious election concession notes. Besides showcasing its own line, the shop also carries a trove of greeting cards (some designed by Oblation staff) and artful journals, as well as deluxe stationery of every stripe. And the store’s antique letter presses are at the ready to print just about any message you can think of. It’s enough to unleash inconvenient truths from even reluctant scribes.
