This isn’t LA. You probably don’t have your own backyard pool. So when the temperature rises, why not splurge and rent one?

A backyard pool of your own beckons in Clackamas.

Eighty-degree temperatures are back in the forecast again for Portland, and summer’s still got plenty of juice left. So what’s a city kid to do when ice cream and fans just aren’t cutting it anymore?

To beat the heat, nothing beats a dip in a nice, cold pool, but hours are still limited for our beloved public pools, thanks in part to a nationwide lifeguard shortage. But if you’re in the mood to splurge and have a vacation on the books, or even a long weekend, consider these five vacation rentals in and around Portland that come with the ultimate summer amenity: A pool of one’s own.

Have floatie, will travel in McMinnville.

Float away in McMinnville

2 beds, 2.5 baths // $339 per night

Find this serene space just 45 minutes away (with no traffic) in McMinnville. In addition to the stunning views, the spa-worthy pool comes with its own sauna area.  The whole space radiates relaxation. The added pool table, media room, and explorable acreage filled with trees makes this destination perfect for a whole family, even the dog. (Or, leave the kids at home and go wine-tasting when you’re done with all that swimming.)

A backyard find in Roseway

1 bed, 1 bath // $109 per night

This cozy, newly renovated studio is attached to a beautiful courtyard space and an even more beautiful pool. This is the perfect weekend getaway for two, with a queen bed and large shower to share. Being in the Roseway neighborhood means you’ll have easy access to great restaurants and be within a short drive away from Mount Tabor Park. A steal at this price!
