3 Local Bottle Companies Beg You to Ditch the Plastic

1) Fifty/Fifty

Wilsonville-based Fifty/Fifty charms Portlanders with custom-crafted vacuum-walled steel bottles for local businesses from the Barre3 fitness empire to Townshend’s Tea. Starting at $19.99

Bonus: This spring the company unveiled a 64 oz growler, complete with an easy-to-carry handle on the lid, that keeps beer carbonated for days. Also, check out the Seven/Fifty line of 750 mL bottles that can hold an entire bottle of wine. (Beer and wine count toward your daily water intake, right?)

Kure Juice Bar
Kure’s logo bottle—made by Hydroflask—does more than broadcast your love of green smoothies. Bottle owners get 25 cents off of every juice or smoothie they buy at any Kure location. $25

2) Hydroflask

The Bend-based pioneers of vacuum-walled bottles expand their line of temperature-regulating containers—that really do keep liquids hot, cold, or carbonated for up to 24 hours—to include a beer-festival-worthy pint glass and sports-ready narrow-mouth bottles. Starting at $21.99

Bonus: Hydroflask donated more than $100,000 to local nonprofits in 2014, including Oregon Adaptive Sports, providing affordable recreation to people with disabilities throughout the state.

3) Love Bottle

Minna Yoo, the founder of this Portland-designed-glass-bottle company, built her enterprise around sustainability. Her next move is to keep it all in-country. This year, Love Bottle teamed up with Owens-Illinois Glass, the world’s largest glass manufacturer, to produce an entirely US-made personal glass water bottle. Starting at $16

Bonus: This summer, Love Bottle debuts a new line of Northwest-pride designs from local artist Dan Stiles, celebrating the Portland skyline and Oregon’s rivers, mountains, and forests.
