Over the last 35 years, Renaissance Homes has established an impeccable reputation around Portland for building homes on lots they’ve acquired for development. But with its new Renaissance On Your Land (ROYL) program, the locally-owned company is putting its talented team of designers and builders at your disposal—and letting you be the boss of what you want to build, and where.
“We’ve had customers who loved our homes but were buying lots outside of Portland and Lake Oswego, and they needed help from beginning to end,” says Randy Sebastian, president of Renaissance Homes. “We saw a real need for a quality builder like Renaissance to simplify the entire building process, and we stepped up.”
Imagine shopping for your custom-made home from a menu of modern floorplans, choosing from a dizzying array of details and finishes, and then being given a price and construction time frame, on the spot. “Instead of spending months on design and undergoing all the changes and delays, Renaissance offers a streamlined process to build your dream home wherever you want it,” Sebastian says.
With ROYL, you’ll pick a floorplan you like—options range from single-level and two-story homes to main-level living and daylight-basement plans—and then add the finishing touches from a long list of included features. Would you like brushed nickel or oil-rubbed bronze hardware? Detailed ceilings? Maple or rustic-cherry kitchen cabinets? If you’d like to add a bathroom or knock out a wall from an existing floorplan, or add any additional upgrades, that’s possible, too. Renaissance encourages you to sit down with one of their designers and make any customizations you wish.
Regardless which design you choose, all homes include the Energy-Star building practices Renaissance is famous for. Air filtration systems and low-toxic materials allow you to breathe a little easier, while Polar Blanket Blown-In insulation provides superior insulating. Renaissance Rain Screen supersedes building codes and eliminates moisture problems. Even the floor systems are engineered above code to create a quieter foundation to walk on.
In addition to the meticulous attention to detail, ROYL offers homes designed for the way you really live. “Floor plans have changed from 10 years ago,” Sebastian says. “People want to come in from the garage and walk into a mudroom where they can hang their wet jackets. The kitchens and eating areas are bigger and more open nowadays. Huge, sliding glass walls are also popular. People want seamless indoor/outdoor living.”
If you’ve bought a plot of land without an access road or sewer, Renaissance steps up here as well. Additional site services include surveying, land-clearing, grading, septic, and everything else you might need. With ROYL, you can basically buy the land you want and Renaissance will take it from there, all under the supervision of one full-service general contractor.
“Most custom builders today will give you a guestimate on price and timing, and it almost always ends up running over on both,” Sebastian says. “With Renaissance, we build you the house you want, on time, and at the price you signed up for. No surprises.”
