Account Executive 

Portland Monthly is seeking a highly motivated, seasoned Advertising Sales Executive to drive sales revenue and growth for the company. This is a “hunter” role and provides exceptional players with uncapped earning potential as well as professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create new business opportunities through personal selling activities and great networking
  • Thoroughly qualify new opportunities to determine whether prospects are good potential for Sagacity Media
  • Manage relationships throughout the entire sales cycle, from initial contact through execution of the client campaign
  • Develop creative campaigns / proposals that help clients achieve their business objectives
  • Consistently win new business and achieve personal revenue goals
  • Expand and maintain existing client relationships

Requirements, Experience, and Attributes of Ideal Candidates

  • Bachelor’s degree + 3 – 5 years sales experience in a B2B environment
  • Very strong prospecting skills. Committed to consistent daily selling behaviors
  • Well-networked in the Portland marketplace. Should be involved with industry associations and have a strong personal network
  • Ability to get in front of high-level decision makers
  • Consultative selling experience a must
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Experience with and comfort entertaining clients in social setting
  • Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, well versed in Excel, Powerpoint (Adobe InDesign a plus)
  • Loyal, honest, high-energy, driven, strong work ethic, good sense of humor
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Must be detail-oriented and set high standards for accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills required

Portland Monthly Event Coordinator

20 hours/week

Portland Monthly is seeking a highly motivated Event Coordinator to organize event logistics, drive vendor booth sales at signature events, and prospect new event sponsorship opportunities for the company. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, a team player, knowledgeable of the Portland culture, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. Remaining calm under pressure is required, with strong decision-making skills and a clear ability to give directions. This position is 20 hours per week from September–December.

Key Responsibilities

Event Coordination

  • Manage all vendor relations for Portland Monthly signature events, including: initial outreach, ongoing communication, and onsite setup
  • Request and manage vendor and sponsor logos, website address, social media handles and images to use for event promotion
  • Track on-site activation requests and plans, including: equipment and rental needs, power requests, certificate of insurance copies (COI), food handlers card and/or serving permits, and staff list
  • Submit and collect event permits
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Event manager to create load-in schedule, run-of-show, vendor instructions, sitemap, and volunteer job descriptions
  • Conducts post–event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Onsite to execute all events, setup through breakdown

Marketing & Promotion

  • Assist event manager in drafting of social media copy
  • Track digital sponsorship fulfillment (i.e. logo placement on e-blasts, mentions in social media posts, etc.)
  • Distribute vendor promotion items: e-blast, social media copy and images, save the date cards, event posters, and any additional items developed for event

Vendor Booth Sales

  • Research market and thoroughly qualify new opportunities to determine whether prospects are good for opportunities to include at SagaCity Media events
  • Create new event business through personal selling activities and great networking
  • Work with a list of existing clients to sell vendor booths at SagaCity Media events

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of event planning/production experience
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills required
  • Have heightened ability to multi-task and prioritize in fast-paced environment
  • Be detail-oriented, responsible, and self-motivated
  • Loyal, honest, high-energy, driven, strong work ethic, good sense of humor
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are mandatory
  • Must be able to lift up to 30+lbs. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be authorized to work in the U.S. for any company
