Where to Get a Christmas Tree Near Portland

Oregon leads the US in Christmas tree production. Here are our favorite farms and stands to get your Tannenbaum on.

By Rebecca Jacobson and Portland Monthly Staff November 20, 2025

'Tis the season.

It’s Christmas tree hunting season again for Portlanders who celebrate. With more than 1,000 farms, Oregon produces more Christmas trees than any other state in the US, which means there are plenty of places around to find your ideal living room centerpiece.

One popular option for the hardiest among us is getting a $5 permit and finding your tree on national forestland. Permits are available online, where you can also find maps guiding you to potential tree-cutting spots. For Portlanders, the Mt. Hood National Forest will be the most convenient option, but permits are also available in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, the Siuslaw National Forest, and the Willamette National Forest. Through the federal government’s Every Kid Outdoors program, fourth graders can get the $5 permit for free online (plus a $2.50 reservation fee).

If you aren’t the type to drive into the snowy forest with a Swede saw, here are a few spots to buy a tree instead. Many of these places are open limited hours; check websites for specific days and times.

Furrow Farm

Nov 28 until supplies last | 25877 NW West Union Rd, Hillsboro

In operation for more than 30 years, Furrow Farm offers noble, Nordmann, and grand firs for $12 per foot, or $10 per foot for Douglas firs. Options include both U-cut (with saws available; shaking and baling included) as well as precut, higher-elevation trees. Also look for ornaments, wreaths, garland, and a handsome herd of cattle—the same ones seen on two seasons of NBC’s Grimm.

Harrison Road Farm

Nov 28–Dec 14 | 37603 Harrison Rd, Banks

This conservation-focused tree farm offers noble firs ($80 per tree, up to 7 feet; $90 per tree, taller than 7 feet) and Douglas firs ($55 per tree, any size), as well as handmade wreaths for $35. They provide saws, twine, and free hot cocoa.

Helvetia Christmas Tree Farm

 Nov 28–dec 7 | 12814 NW Bishop Rd, Hillsboro

There’s a slim window to get trees here. U-Cut and precut trees cost $75, whether noble, grand, or Nordmann fir, and wreaths run $35–45. While you wait for your tree to be shaken and baled, which costs an extra $5, explore the farm’s gift shop, hang out by the open firepit with refreshments and free marshmallows, scope the hobby train display, or snap a photo with Santa in his sleigh.

Nob Hill Christmas

Nov 21–Dec 24 | 2034 NW 26th Ave

This inner city stand started hawking trees outside the Nob Hill Historical Society’s Santa Land in 2013. Working with area farms, they cut fresh trees each weekend, aiming to avoid waste, while offering a huge range of color and size specifications. “This is not a fake tree on Amazon!” their site reminds, though they do offer preorder and delivery (Nordmanns and nobles start at $60).

Plumper Pumpkin Patch & Tree Farm

Nov 22–Dec 14 | 11435 NW Old Cornelius Pass Rd

A giant selection of trees and wreaths, plus an experience: firepits to make your own s’mores, a farm store with homemade pumpkin doughnuts, and adorable animals you can feed. Pricing: $13 per foot for precut or U-cut noble, grand, and others; $11 per foot for Douglas.

Pollard Ranch

NOV 22–Dec 21 | 13225 NW Skyline Blvd

Pollard Ranch is a pig and Christmas family tree farm 20 minutes northwest of downtown Portland. Opened in 2010, it sells U-cut and fresh-cut trees, with options for delivery. Trees start at $40 or $45, depending on type, and wreaths speckled with juniper, incense cedar, and ponderosa cones start at $40. Garland is available for $2.50 per foot.

Topaz Farm

Nov 26–dec 7 | 17100 NW Sauvie Island Rd

The popular Sauvie Island farm has partnered with Pollard Ranch (see above) to sell Douglas and noble firs, ranging from 3 to 10 feet tall, at $13 per foot. All trees come pre-shaken, and you can choose from pre-baled or open. (They'll cut the base and strap it to your car, too.) Also on offer: wreaths from Teufel Holly Farms, hot cocoa (and more adult options) around the fire pit, cute farm animals, and Sunday visits from Santa.

Rainy Mountain Farms

opens Nov 28 | 49400 SE Marmot Rd, Sandy

Each year, Rainy Mountain Farms plants around 1,000 trees—mainly noble firs, some Nordmanns, and a few blue spruce—in an effort to catch up from the 2021 drought and heat dome. If you’re not quite ready to trek into the wild for a tree but balk at the mail-order approach, this might be your farm. Trees are $50 regardless of size. (You can also make an appointment to have them cut, bale, and load the tree onto your car; the service costs $60.) “Bring gloves and boots,” the website instructs, but there are loaner saws and a tree baler. Expect hot cocoa and coffee "on drizzly days," and wreaths for purchase from the local 4-H club.

Sleighbells Farm & Gift Shop

thru Dec 23 | 23855 SW 195th Pl, Sherwood

If you want to make a day of meeting Santa, sipping free cocoa, and swaying to live holiday brass while you nosh fistfuls of red and green kettle corn, Sleighbells could be your spot. In addition to U-cut or precut options available from the farm, the two-story shop bursts with ornaments and other Christmas decor. Check Instagram for Santa’s schedule and brass performances.

Thorntons’ Treeland

Soft Open (Just tree Sales) Nov 21–23, fully open Nov 28 | 7617 NE 119th St, Vancouver

Glen and Nancy Thornton sold their first tree in 1974 and have been at it ever since; these days, they work alongside their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. After picking the perfect tree at this U-cut farm, grab some coffee or hot cocoa and find barn animals waiting to be fed and pet, or hop on a hayride. Four varieties of trees are available and priced individually.

U-Cut Nobles

NOV 28–Dec 15 | 24730 NW Dixie Mountain Rd, North Plains

U-Cut Nobles started selling, uh, U-cut nobles back in 1996. They offer all the supplies you need to take the best noble fir tree home, including saws, step stools, and twine to tie it all up. Only trees under 10 feet tall are available. All trees are noble firs and cost $95, or $100 if paying with a credit card.
