Brooklyn Park Pub
Even the most zoned-out ESPN junkie at this neighborhood sports bar will find themselves distracted by the number of bottles on the shelf. Owner Nathan Dewey is a whiskey zealot, and stocks nearly 80 brands—including hard-to-find offerings like Hirsch from Nova Scotia and Bernheim’s Kentucky wheat whiskey. Regulars should consider joining the pub’s whiskey club: After partaking of 30 different brands (five ryes, five scotches, five bourbons and 15 others of the customer’s choosing) the initiate gets special purchasing privileges and a T-shirt bearing a (modified) quote from Hank Williams Jr: “Whiskey bent and Brooklyn bound.” Needless to say, attempting to sample all 30 in one sitting is severely frowned upon. “After three whiskeys your taste buds go south on you,” warns Dewey.
