Description

Pursuing total body relaxation is a feet-first endeavor at Foot Bar, where owner Heather Pittman stands behind her anything-but-pedestrian services. “A foot treatment can accomplish much of what a full-body massage can—it’s just done in a more focused way,” says Pittman, a licensed massage therapist who opened the Pearl District business in July after shuttering her Sellwood practice.
Looking for bliss? You’re soaking in it. The heeling process begins when you dip your digits in a foot bath filled with warm, soapy water, then choose from packages that kick off with 15-minute sessions and step up to hourlong alpha wave encounters. Calf-inclusive treatments include such arch strategies as a bracing salt exfoliation, a detoxifying knee-to-toe clay mask and a hot stone massage—which concludes with the “Who knew?” pleasure that is warm pebbles tucked between your toes.
Pittman, who also offers full-service treatments at the adjacent Body Bar, says she was inspired to open Foot Bar by similar foot-centric establishments she’d heard about in Thailand, where reflexology isn’t a medical footnote. “Not only do these mood-boosting treatments stimulate your system, they’re also deeply relaxing. You could say it’s our version of Prozac.”
Would that be Toezac?
