November 21, 2012

Day 8: Driving through Indiana
Adorable family representing Sunday brunch style at a small town in Indiana.

Day 8: Detroit
The ghost town of Detroit I saw was enough to cause a few nightmares.

Day 8: Canadian Border Crossing at Detroit
The things you find out about your tour mates when you're at a border crossing.

Day 8: Canadian Border Crossing at Detroit
After making it through the border crossing easily, in part thanks to the guy who was caught smuggling goats and the drunk couple, we got to see Detroit from the other side of the river.

Day 9: Toronto
Apparently in Canada, shirts are a go!

Day 9: Toronto
The thoughtful venue in Toronto was kind enough to provide this costume in the green room.

Day 9: Toronto
Cute gals in Toronto.

Day 10: Somewhere between Toronto and Montreal
Driving through Canada is beautiful and open, except when you need a restroom because you're out of luck.

Day 10: Somewhere between Toronto and Montreal
Does this mean "Drunk Owl?"

Day 10: Somewhere between Toronto and Montreal
Trashy mags in French look so much classier!

Day 10: Montreal
Whoa Montreal, we need you to rethink this whole window.

Day 10: Montreal
Some particularly classy bathroom art.

Day 10: Montreal
A Montreal gen proudly sporting his new purchase from me.

Day 11: Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu
Unfortunately I dropped French for Japanese after one day, meaning I was left to act like an ugly American and point at fruit on the menu.

Day 11: Middle of Nowhere Canada
A gorgeous church that sprang up in the middle of nothing.

Day 11: Border Crossing into Vermont
Found out after this that you shouldn't take pictures at border crossings, it makes you look suspicious.

Day 11: Vermont
Vermont, I loved you.

Day 11: New Hampshire
Look at this combo New Hampshire. It's not the best idea.

Day 11: Massachusettes
Heading into Boston.

Day 11: Cambridge
We instantly stumbled into a protest and it made me miss Portland.

Day 11: Harvard
Harvard. Hmmm.... I feel like the name sounds familiar for some reason.

Day 11: Boston
Well done Boston.

Day 11: Boston
Brent Knopf selling his Ramona Falls goodies.

Day 11: Mass
In one day we spent probably $50 on tolls driving through the East Coast.

Day 12: Sturbridge Village
We stayed in the Sturbridge Publick Inn built in 1791 which is rumored to be haunted by a woman who sits in the dining room crying. (I believe it)

Day 12: Sturbridge Village
Adding to the creepy haunting story, the Inn has an ancient cemetery next door to fully terrify the easily scared. (Again, me)

Day 12: Manhattan
With little to no sleep, we headed into the heart of Manahattan for chaos.

Day 12: Manhattan
New Yorkers have style.

Day 12: Manhattan
SoHo

Day 12: Manhattan
$3?!

Day 12: Manhattan
I almost bought a Rolex for $10, but got an inkling it wasn't real.

Day 12: Manhattan
Shoes.

Day 12: Manhattan
In a happy surprise I stumbled upon Opening Ceremony.

Day 12: Manhattan
In an unhappy surprise, I took one photo inside before I got busted.

Day 12: Manhattan
Brooklyn band, Slowdance, opened up the show at the Bowery that night and worked their posing at sound check.

Day 12: Manhattan
Portlanders are buds for life. Project Runway winner Leanne Marshall and Runway alum, Janeane Marie, came to Helio's Bowery show to party hardy with me.

Day 12: Manhattan
Perks of traveling with the band? You can have any seat you want.
