Beneath the arches of the St. Johns Bridge, the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival began its three-day run on July 18. Founded in 1981, the annual jazz showcase brings first-rate musical acts to the public for free. This year’s lineup included local favorites such as soul man Curtis Salgado, the Portland Jazz Orchestra, and torch singer Linda Lee Michelet. An estimated 3,500 fans turned out for the volunteer-run event, which is the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi.
