Finally, the day we've been waiting for: when Menomena proves that even as a duo, it's still pulsing, beating, jiving, and sometimes even tap dancing into the opiate pleasure centers of our brains. Their new album, Moms, is out today to incredible praise (and a remarkably restrained number of mom jokes). But don't take our word:

Pitchfork: "Moms is without doubt the most aggressive record Menomena have ever made" and  lead single "Heavy Is As Heavy Does" is "gloriously morose."
Rolling Stone: also praised the track as "an emotive outburst of a song that expertly sidesteps melodrama - confessional rock thrills without the cheesy aftertaste."
Paste: "the most candid and personal Menomena release to date."
Under the Radar: "one of the most well thought-out bands working today, never sacrificing structure or composition in the name of delivering a series of power chords."
Alarm: "arguably Menomena's best effort to date."

But don't take their word: listen for yourself.

If you're interested in learning more, check out our profile of the now-duo, Danny Seim and Justin Harris, in our Fall Arts Preview, and our exclusive interview with them regarding carrying on after the departure of their third founding band member.

Looks like they're kicking off a national tour next week and will swing through the Crystal Ballroom on November 2 before hopping over to the old countries.
