Do This Now! Special Halloween Edition

What’s happening this month

By John Murray September 21, 2012

Halloween-candy overdoses are just around the corner, meaning you’d better get some preemptive calorie burning in: grab your Spidey suit for the superhero-themed Run Like Hell (Oct 21) through Portland’s urban parks and along the waterfront. Not interested in saving the world? Grab a flashlight and Walk with the Spirits (Oct 27–28) in historic Oregon City. Or hit the local streets for the Beyond Bizarre Ghost Tour (Thu–Sun), where you’ll be equipped with real ghost-hunting equipment. Just don’t count on Slimer to help you.

If you prefer to wear fewer clothes on Halloween night, gyrate down to People Under the Bridge (Oct 27), an all-night, costumed “fund-rager” for charity. Meanwhile, dance studio Body Vox hosts BloodyVox: Fresh Blood (Oct 18–Nov 3). Stay cultured, my friends.

At long last, the Trail Blazers start their season on Halloween Night (Oct 31) with a home-opener showdown against the LA Lakers. Historically, Portland holds the statistical advantage, but a new head coach, new general management, and an all-but-untested roster means this game might very well turn into Fright Night.
