Do This Now: February Edition

Winter drear may still be upon us, but the culture is in full gear. The 10th anniversary of the Portland Jazz Festival (Feb 15–24) gathers international headliners like Kenny Garrett and the Afro-Cuban All Stars. Oregon Ballet Theatre performs Swan Lake (Feb 16–23), departing OBT artistic director Christopher Stowell’s take on the mesmerizing 1895 classic. For a slightly geekier form of culture, head down to Portland Comic Con (Feb 22–24), which brings such genre royalty as Stan Lee to the Oregon Convention Center.

Stretch atrophied legs at the Worst Day of the Year Ride (Feb 10), an 18-mile cruise that starts on Hawthorne and winds through four other neighborhoods. Beer before and after helps sustain riders. The Arms of Venus disc golf tournament (Feb 16) is the perfect way to trick your body into exercise.
Timber Joey returns for the Timbers preseason tournament (Feb 17, 20, and 23) at Jeld-Wen Field—a rare opportunity to snag scarce tickets. Or, don your spurs to see the Professional Bull Riders (Feb 15–16) for a Rose Garden night of beer, broncos, and bulls.
