DRAG EXTRAVAGANZA

Win VIP Tickets to Jinkx Monsoon's Drag Ball

The Portland native returns home for his first performance since winning RuPaul's Drag Race. Dec 27

By Aaron Scott December 19, 2013

Born in Portland and now based in Seattle, Jinkx Monsoon, aka Jerick Hoffer, was the first drag queen from the Northwest to compete on the hit cable reality show and national queen-maker, RuPaul’s Drag Race. His first win, for hilariously portraying the cult icon and cousin-to-Jackie Kennedy, Little Edie (the subject of a documentary, Broadway show, and movie, all called Grey Gardens), became an Internet sensation. And although Jinkx struggled at first to convince the judges of the glamour in his character-driven drag, he continued to trounce the less-sophisticated competition with his singing, dancing, good will, and, most of all, incredible comedic skills, sashaying into first place and ultimately winning the crown.

When we interviewed Jinkx before the season finale (read the Q&A), the ensuing traffic almost crashed our website. Everybody’s been waiting for his victory-lap hometown show and, after selling out weeks of performances in New York as the Vaudevillians, he’s finally coming back on December 27, accompanied by fellow Seattle queen BenDeLaCreme, who will appear soon on Season 6, and a bevvy of local performers.

This contest is now over.
