In super group terms, Crosby, Stills, and Nash (with the occasional Young) are about as big as it gets: big sales, big awards, big egos, big influence, big fights, and big harmonies.

Originally from the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and the Hollies, respectively, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash first jammed together at a house party thrown by Joni Mitchell in 1968—a fitting origin story for a band that pioneered the singer-songwriter genre that emerged in LA’s Laurel Canyon and continues to thrive today (each member has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice). Without the band’s unique harmonies and genre-straddling music, it’s hard to imagine half of Portland’s bands existing as they do now.

The trio comes to town to perform at the Keller on September 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 9.
