He's not a household name, but you've definitely seen something he's been in.

Michael Ian Black got his start on the sketch comedy show The State, and played characters on Inside Amy Schumer, the Jim Gaffigan Show, and Reno 911. Most famously—at least around the Portland Monthly offices—he played McKinley in the 2001 cult comedy Wet Hot American Summer, reprising that role in the Netflix TV series earlier this year. How can you forget his sex scene with then-unknown Bradley Cooper?

Black hits the stage this Friday and Saturday for four standup shows at the Helium Comedy Club. As of right now, sweet, sweet tickets are still to be had. We rounded up four times he was funny to get you in the mood. Enjoy.

(Pro tip: he's also hilarious on Twitter.)

4. On Inside Amy Schumer

In this brilliant Spanks send-up, Michael Ian Black appears as a notary public and spokesman for "Swanks".

3. On not being ready to have kids

Black airs his lingering resentment for his kids.

2. On Bill Cosby

Black has some advice for the Bill Cosby.

1. On wearing Shakespearean tights

The State gang performs MacBeth, with an awkward twist.
