How SE 82nd Avenue Became One Portland Artist's Muse
Artist Shawn Demarest moved to the Foster-Powell neighborhood about a year ago, and found in the surrounding streetscapes her urban muse. Her latest exhibition, EastSouthEast: Merge, showcases her neighborhood thoroughfares—SE Powell, SE 82nd, SE Center—in vivid oil-and-graphite style. You can see the pieces in their neighborhood of origin at PCC's Southeast Student Commons (through December 30). Failing that, stay tuned for the downtown debut of some of the same works at Gallery 135 in February, where her show Innerscape/Outerscape brings together pieces from EastSouthEast: Merge and new work.
