Go, Pee-Wee, go!

Back in May, the Hollywood Theatre purchased a massive inflatable screen from Open Air Cinema, promising a brand-new “series of outdoor screenings at Oregon state parks (all within an hour’s drive of Portland),” with each film thematically pegged to the hosting park.

The first screening in June sold out quickly. But as of writing, the next installment—Pee-wee's Big Adventure at Stub Stewart State Park on Saturday, August 6still has tickets available

It's a match made in bikey heaven. Pee-wee loves his shiny red cruiser more than anything else, setting off on a cross-country voyage when the cherished ride is stolen from him. And Stub Stewart, located along the Banks-Vernonia Trail, boasts many miles of multi-use and mountain bike trails. In fittingly velophilic celebration, River City Bicycles will lead a guided bike ride through the park before the movie rolls.

If you can't make it, the Hollywood plans to host two more screenings this summer and early fall. Those films haven't been announced yet, but check the theater website or sign up for email updates.

Pee-wee's Big Adventure plays at Stub Stewart State Park at dusk on Saturday, Aug. 6. Pre-movie bike ride starts at 6 p.m.
