SE Division: The fourth location of Micah Camden and Katie Poppe’s Little Big Burger officially opened on Sunday, March 4 at 3810 SE Division. The casual eatery serving up burgers, fries, and floats will be open seven days a week from 11 am to 9 pm.
Northeast
NE Killingsworth: Here’s a change to score some tempura scallops and help those in need! This Wednesday, March 14, Yakuza Lounge will donate 30 percent of all proceeds to to p:ear, a Portland non-profit that mentors homeless youth through education, art and recreation.
Southwest
SW Stark: Downtown deli Kenny & Zuke’s will now be offering a selection of "healthy options" in addition to their more indulgent menu (spurred by chef and owner Ken Gordon’s experience battling diabetes). Lighter fare include smaller versions of pastrami and corned beef sandwiches on whole-grain rye, a lean burger served on a whole-grain bun with guacamole and salsa, and a scaled-down chopped salad, weighing in at 483 calories.
Northwest
NW Thurman: Olympic Provisions NW will be serving up Sunday Chicken Dinners every weekend. The $35 meal deal includes a whole rotisserie chicken, an iceberg wedge salad, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, and biscuits, and will be available for restaurant diners and to-go orders every Sunday after 5 pm.
National Attention:
Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chef award is decided by an online competition, and the nominees from the Northwest and Pacific category include a few familiar faces: Benjamin Bettinger (currently) of Beaker & Flask, Jenn Louis of Lincoln and Sunshine Tavern, Chris DiMinno of Clyde Common, and Sunny Jin from Newberg’s JORY at the Allison Inn and Spa. Voting is only open through March 11th, so add your vote ASAP.
CNN International features two Portland restaurants on a list of the 50 Best Chinese Restaurants in the United States, thanks to the "cheap happy hour appetizers" at Northeast Broadway’s Shandong and the "authentic dim sum" at Southeast Division’s Wong’s King Seafood. Smithsonian Magazine is jumping on the foodie list bandwagon with their take on the 20 Best Food Trucks in America, including Portland’s Lardo and Viking Soul Food (which both happen to be parked at SE Belmont’s Good Food Here pod).
