Over 300 people showed up—many in plaid and cowboy hats—for our first-annual Country Breakfast and Bloody Mary Showdown at Miller Hall at the World Forestry Center.

The family-friendly hoedown raised a good chunk of cash for p:ear and brought together the best Bloody Marys in Portland (paired with gourmet takes on breakfast dishes). The sun was shining, the music was twangin’, the food was creative, and the tomato-fueled cocktails were flowing freely all morning long.

A.M. offerings from Lincoln Restaurant, Oven & Shaker, Departure, and Gilt Club ranged from the classic to the extreme (foie gras pop tart, anyone?), savory cocktails from Irving St. Kitchen, Tasty n Sons, Screen Door, Podnah’s Pit, and Ned Ludd, and tipplers had a chance to vote for their favorite Bloody Mary.

A panel of judges selected their favorite as well, and Irving Street Kitchen managed to clinch both the People’s Choice and Judges’ Favorite awards, earning the title of the best Bloody Mary in Portland!

Didn’t get a chance to try the best of the best? Don’t worry, we’re working on bringing the event back next year, with a bigger location, new participants, and even more country-fried good times.

Stay tuned for more, and for now, feast on the great photos from Aralani Photography by clicking on the slideshow above!
