The PDX Bridge kickoff party, which was located at Slate in NW, featured artists such as And AndAnd, Wax Fingers, Housefire, Boy Eats Drum Machine, and Solovox.

One-man band and nob twiddler Solovox performed last during the PDX Bridge Fest kickoff party pumping up the crowd with a burst of keyboard infused electronica.

After Solovox performed in the Slate building overlooking the Fremont Bridge during the Bridge Festival’s opening party, “Amazin’ Movement” break dancers drew the crowd with their superior steps around midnight.

The 7?×7?×4? pink box was first loaded with boxes of glazed doughnuts and then topped with Voodoo’s famous specialty doughnuts including Bacon Maple Bars, Voodoo Dolls, and Portland Creams.

The previous world record of 297 pounds set in 2009 was demolished with 666 pounds of Portland-made pastry. Voodoo’s Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson joins the celebration.

Mayor Sam Adams, flanked by Voodoo Doughnuts co-owners Tres Shannon and Kenneth Pogson, was on hand to recognize the attempt and completion of the new world record.

Over 4,000 doughnuts were needed to reach the goal of 666 pounds to break the world record. Once all the proof was gathered for the Guinness folks, the donuts were handed out to brunch attendees, along with stickers that read “I ate a world record.”

With neighboring Linn County being the grass seed capital of the world, the 28,000 square feet of sod was all locally grown and donated after the event. Brunch attendees even kicked off their footwear to enjoy the manufactured park barefoot.

Brunch on the Bridge included samples from local companies like Dave’s Killer Bread, Stumptown Coffee, and Eva’s Herbucha. Many folks brought picnic baskets and blankets to enjoy the park.

Local artists turned picnic tables into works of art, which were auctioned off to benefit B-Shares, a local bike delivery program that serves the hungry.

Lawn games, including a steampunk-themed Alice in Wonderland croquet set, were enjoyed by assorted attendees.
