Dine Out for Sandy Relief

Nearly forty Portland restaurants are opening their doors on December 5th for dinners to benefit victims of Superstorm Sandy.

A mobile Red Cross unit supplies hot lunches for local people in Far Rockaway in Queens.

The media coverage may be waning, but those hit by Superstorm Sandy are still in need of support. On Wednesday, December 5th, dozens of Portland restaurants will donate 10 to 20 percent of their evening's proceeds to the American Red Cross to allow New York City residents to prepare and serve food for those in need.

The one-night-only benefit event was organized by Jackie Sappington of the Country Cat and Carrie Welch (co-founder of Feast Portland) in an effort to bridge Portland's chefs with the Northeastern chefs working to feed those hardest hit by the October storm.

To build support of the event, Dine Out PDX's organizers are encouraging diners to use the Twitter hashtag #DineOutPDX to spread the word and get people throughout the region to stop into a Portland restaurant for a great cause.

Here is the official list of restaurants taking part in the Sandy Relief efforts on December 5th. For more information, head to the Dine Out PDX Facebook event page
