Lovers of Abby Fammartino's vibrant dinner parties at her Southeast Ankeny eatery Abby’s Table no longer have to limit their visits to the prix fixe weekly meals. After over four years in buisness cooking up delicious four-course dinners without gluten, dairy, or soy, Fammartino has launched a new menu of healthy take-out a la carte dishes and delights for lunch and dinner out of a sweet in-house retail shop.

The Fresh 'n' Go shop debuted on Friday, February 1st with a bounty of fresh winter veggies and entrees. The opening day menu included a mini DIY salad bar—stocked with coriander roasted beets, turnip "noodles," hard boiled eggs, and local greens—two hot soups, amazing gluten-free chocolate chip cookies and raw macaroons (just $1.50 for 3!), and a packed fridge of sweet and savory sauces and dips alongside take-out meals.

Diners can grab afforable options like maple and pecan-crusted salmon over arugula, crispy white bean croquettes, and chicken marsala with wild mushrooms, or load up with fresh veggies and a side serving of spicy pumpkin hummus or "Nude Ranch" dressing. Those with a sweet tooth will find refuge in Fammartino's caramel-like "Dream Date" sauce, avocado-based chocolate "Nude Pudding," green smoothies, or purple-hued Thai black rice pudding sweetened with coconut sugar.

While there's currently no dine-in option for the lunch and dinner dishes, this cozy little corner is sure to satisfy a neighborhood need for fresh, local take-out meals that will please just about everyone. The new retail shop is now open Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 8 pm and Saturdays from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
