Michael Pollan Returns to Portland

Powell's Books hosts a night of conversation with the locavore guru and OPB's Dave Miller at the Newmark Theatre.

Heads up, locavores! On Tuesday, May 14th, Powell's Books will host a one-night-only event with Michael Pollan—author of bestselling books The Botany of DesireThe Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defense of Foodin conversation with OPB's Dave Miller at the Newmark Theatre (1111 SW Broadway).

Since 2006, Pollan as been a thought leader in the national food community, adeptly examining the way the American food system has changed the way we eat and think about plants and animals. During this candid event, Pollan will discuss his upcoming book Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, in which he explores why cooking at home matters and the lessons he's gleaned from his own kitchen. Miller—host of OPB radio's Think Out Loud—will facilitate the conversation and probe Pollan's take on our Oregonian food system and what Portlanders can do to enrich their own home cooking experience.
