Portland is proving itself to be hotbed of innovative food and drink events—including the recently announced Portland Summer Food Cart Festival, the surprise hit Whiskeyfest NW, and the city’s biggest claim to food festival fame, Feast Portland.

This month, Indie Vinos’ inaugural Wine Rush PDX joins the ranks of Stumptown's unique sipping extravaganzas. The new event will showcase small-production, limited-distribution wineries from all along the West Coast, from the Willamette Valley and Walla Walla to Sonoma and Napa.

Wine meets tech: In addition to sampling wines and food pairings from local culinary hotshots, guests can try and buy hard-to-find wines at the event using Indie Vinos’ custom iPhone app, which will also allow users to take tasting notes and rate and review featured wines (centralized checkout stations are available for non-iPhone owning oenophiles).

Wine Rush-PDX will take place from 3 to 6 pm on Saturday, June 22 at Sandbox Studio in Northeast Portland. General admission tickets ($60; early bird price) and VIP tickets ($95) are available now via Eventbrite.
