Your Guide to a Fine Foodie Father's Day

For the day before…

If your Sunday is already chock full of Dad plans, start the celebration a day early by heading to Kern’s Kitchen. The Kern's team has collaborated with Capitol Records to put on a Beck Father’s Day Listening Party on Saturday, June 14. Starting at 5 pm, the family-friendly neighborhood eatery will offer food and drink specials, a full listening of Beck’s new record Morning Phase, and the chance to win many fun prizes. 2935 NE Glisan Street, 503-477-7779

For Dads who Brunch…

Merit Badge and Din Din will be hosting both a Father’s Day Brunch as well as a cocktail dinner party on the Saturday evening before. The Sunday brunch will take place between 10 am and 3 pm and will feature an à la carte menu. On 7:30 Saturday June 14, join the Merit Badge cocktail team and Din Din's Courtney Sproule for Forgive Me Father, a cocktail dinner party—featuring a tasting of three cocktails and a light, family-style dinner with wine and beer for the table. Reservations can be made by calling 971-544-1350. 920 NE Glisan Street

Visit any of St. Honoré’s three locations for brunch, bottomless mimosas, and cider cocktails in celebration of Dad. The bakeries will be offering savory French classics for brunch, like Croque Monsieurs, egg cocotte with bacon, and quiche jardinière. Bottomless mimosas are just $10 along with a variety of festive cider cocktails, from Cider Sangria to the the Yuzu-Pippin, made with Reverend Nat’s Newtown Pippin single varietal hard cider and Genki-su yuzu-citrus vinegar. 

Besaw’s promises a spread of seriously manly food during their Father’s Day Brunch, with offerings like a rib eye scramble with white cheddar and jalapeños, and chicken fried steak with two eggs cooked to Dad’s liking, topped with sausage gravy, and rosemary garlic potatoes. 2301 NW Savier St., 503-228-2619

Stop into SE Wine Collective for family-style brunch with offerings like cardamom coffee cake, farm veggie hash, biscuits and housemade pork sausage gravy, and lots of bacon. The $35 cover includes a 16 oz. MAN-mosa, and SE Wine Collective will be giving away free empty growlers ready for filling wine or beer for Dad all day. Head to Ned Ludd for brunch or dinner and explore menu offerings tailored to dads with an emphasis on smoke and whiskey. Expect a lot of smoked meats and brown liquor cocktails. For Dinner…

Trader Vic’s will be serving a special Father’s Day menu from 4-10 pm for just $28/person. The menu will feature herb-crusted prime rib roasted in the signature Chinese wood-fired oven, paired with garlic mashed potatoes, Maui onion sweet fries, grilled asparagus, and a red wine au jus. 1203 NW Glisan St., 503-467-2277

For Beer-Minded Dads….

Brewvana will host a Father’s Day Beer, Brunch & Brewing Tour, Sunday June 15, from 12-3:30 pm. Dads will be whisked down to Lake Oswego for brunch and beer at Stickemen Brewery & Skewery, followed by a trip to Hillsboro to visit a homebrew supply shop, Brew Brothers Homebrew Products, and finally to Three Mugs Brewing for more beer tasting. Tickets are $69/person and include transportation, food, beer, and some fun souvenirs. All Father's Day weekend long, Cocotte chef Kat LeSueur will offer a 5-course menu paired brews from new Portland brewer Royale Brewing Company. Father’s Day To-Go…

Those whose dads have a sweet tooth might check out the freshly reopened Saint Cupcake on SE Belmont, which is taking special orders for Father’s Day.
