Your autumnal challenge: drive the 35 miles of scenic highway through the Hood River Fruit Loop and soak up views of dozens of orchards, forests, and farmland—stopping to harvest juicy, crisp fall produce along the way. Kick off the season with fresh apples, pears, pumpkins, and more at these reliable farms:

The perfect pie is calling! Pick apples and pears throughout October at Draper Girls Country Farm. Varieties include Honey Crisp, Gala, Golden Supreme, and Elstar apples, as well as red and green Anjou and Bosc pears. After a hard day’s picking, relax at the farm with fresh cider and the Draper Girl's famous cinnamon-sugar dried apples.
