Five-Spice Noodles

Bulgogi-style grilled soy curls, vegetable and vermicelli noodles, sake-marinated king oyster mushroom ‘scallop’. Five-spice broth with greens, cilantro, lime, and house-made chili oil.

Samosa Bowl

Samosa-style potatoes with peas, carrots, cauliflower, and warming spices over lentil dahl, brown rice with poppy and mustard seeds. Topped with sweet onion jam and cucumber cilantro coconut raita.

Tonics (served hot or cold and sparkling)

Juniper Signature Tonic: Botanical and herbaceous with hints of citrus, grains of paradise, rosemary, and sage.

Old-Fashioned Root Candy Tonic: Earthy and grounding with spicy notes of ginger, sassafras, vanilla, and longevity-boosting shilajit

Portobello Melt

Grilled marinated portobello, smoked cashew provolone, sweet onion jam, and arugula.

Smoothies

Sweet Citrus Green: Fresh squeezed orange juice, pineapple, cucumber, kale, basil, and ginger.

Strawberries and Cream: Housemate brazil nut milk, strawberries, vanilla, lucuma, and dates.

Country Plate

‘Chicken’-fried breaded tofu, daily mashed vegetable, daily greens selection, seasonal vegetables, mushroom white wine herb gravy.

The Don

Smoky Mac with creamy cashew smoked provolone, kalamata olive, red pepper relish, and tofu ricotta.

Malted Chocolate: Brazil nut milk, coconut milk, mesquite, maca, vanilla, lucuma, date, sea salt.

House Chai: Served steamed or iced with rice, Brazil nut, or coconut milk.

Harvest Bowl

Daily mashed root vegetable, daily greens selection, dahl.

Southern Italian Sammy

Herbed breaded tofu, cashew basil ricotta, red pepper orange relish, caramelized fennel, and onion.

The Menu

When Food For Thought, a worker-owned vegetarian café at Portland State University, shuttered last spring, a handful of student-employees didn’t wallow in the loss—they banded together to build something bigger and better. Together, the all-female, all-queer quintet launched Juniper, a worker-owned cart serving wholesome comfort food to the downtown lunch crowd.
