Portland's Best Spring Plant Sale

The gardening season kicks off with Hortlandia, the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon's annual mid-April plant sale

By Kate Bryant April 8, 2013

Each spring, the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon runs a sale showcasing dozens of the best micro-nurseries and garden art purveyors from the Pacific Northwest.

Some highlights at this year's show include small nurseries selling unusual perennials (Edelweiss Perennials, Woodland Way Nursery); rare ferns (Fancy Fronds); Columbia Gorge natives (Humble Roots Farm & Nursery); own-root vintage roses (Heirloom Roses); heathers (Highland Heather); Clematis (Friends of Rogerson Clematis Collection); palms (Oregon Palm Nursery); dahlias (Old House Dahlias); unusual conifers (Porterhowse Farms); succulents, grasses, perennials (Rare Plant Nursery); hostas and ferns (Sebright Gardens); sedums and other succulents (the Sedum Chicks); lilies (The Lily Garden); herbs and woody plants (Van Hevelingen Herb Nursery); and uncommon shrubs and perennials (Gossler Farm Nursery, Joy Creek Nursery, Far Reaches Farm, and Xera Plants). And that is just a small sampling of the folks who will be at the sale! (The complete vendor list can be found here.)

Garden art vendors will sell items ranging from metal sculpture work, ceramics, and bird houses to garden tools and recycled metal art. (There is a complete garden art vendor list, too, here.)

Join the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon here - or, if you join the HPSO at the plant sale, get $10 off membership. (Normally $35/year - $25/year for students and individual plus one is $40/year; but $10 off if you sign up at the HPSO book sale table.)
