Portland’s median home price may be roughly double that of the United States, but even within our metro area, there are big differences in what your money will buy, depending on what neighborhood you’re considering. In this series, we take a look at what the same price point will get you in different markets around the metro area. This week: Portland, Troutdale, and Battle Ground for around $900,000. With unique stonework, water features with cherubs, gargoyles guarding the balcony, and stone lions adorning the outer staircase, this is the closest you’ll get to living in a castle without having to live in a remote countryside. This house was built in 1928 and truly is one of a kind, with immense attention to detail found in the light fixtures, small statues throughout the property, and more.

You enter the home into a front living space that features a marble fireplace surrounded by stained-glass windows, and a dining area on the opposite side with French doors leading outside. You continue into a living space at the foot of the staircase that leads into the beautifully renovated kitchen complete with a breakfast nook. Past the kitchen, you’ll find a full bathroom and the first of four bedrooms. Upstairs you’ll find the primary bedroom that leads to the large balcony that has an incredible view of Mount Hood, as well as an en-suite bathroom. Down the hall are two other bedrooms and a third full bath with a clawfoot tub. There is a living and entertaining space, the final bathroom, and a wine room on the bottom floor, as well as a sitting area beneath the front entrance with serious dungeon vibes. Outside the house, you’ll find a manicured and fenced-in lawn in addition to a swimming pool, hot tub, pool house, and separate building that can be used for anything your heart desires (private office, art studio, yoga studio, etc).
