Endless Opportunities for Interior Designers

Do you know the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator? Interior design focuses on the art and science of human behavior in order to create functional spaces, while interior decorating is the furnishing of a space.

Ankrom Moisan has one of the largest and most diverse interior design departments in the Pacific Northwest. With more than 70 designers in Portland and Seattle, our extensive knowledge and services are a great benefit to our clients. We work both as part of our Integrated Design teams, collaborating on projects with Architecture and Branding professionals, as well as independently with clients who have only interior design needs.

Our design process begins with a thorough analysis of our client’s goals and the development of end-user profiles, or personas. We then strategize and generate design ideas that will best support the people served in each space; whether it’s the living and amenity spaces in high-rise apartment buildings; a hospital where we explore staff workflows and patient well-being; an urban hotel where we focus on creating a memorable experience that connects a traveler to a place; or a workplace where we develop solutions that support a multi-generational workforce.

Our interior design work is continually informed by the latest research, helping us increase the value to our clients’ businesses while making a positive social impact. We explore innovative social trends, new ways of living and working, inventive uses of materials, and advances in sustainability—sharing this knowledge with our clients as we go through the design process with them. Internal think-tank groups are responsible for on-going research, exploration, and new concept development.

Ankrom Moisan’s interior design work encompasses a wide array of project types, including residential units that support shifts in social interactions to designing the Office of the Future. AMA provides great professional opportunities as we work together to create a place where designers of all experience levels can learn and thrive.
